Results show 1.2.1 contact reaps rewards in MBA admissions circle
London, 10 January 2008: As the search for the top 200 MBA candidates in the UK gains momentum, results from business
schools show the increasing value of 1.2.1 contact. QS, the team behind the QS World MBA Tour, will host QS
TopMBA Connect 1.2.1 on Saturday 2 February in London, bringing together the UK’s Top 200 MBA candidates,
with the world’s leading business schools.
Support for this innovative method has increased in recent years. Rachel Killian, MBA Marketing & Recruitment Manager
at Warwick Business School says: “59% of our full-time students and 55% of our distance learning students use personal
recommendations or face-to-face contact with the school. Given that we received applications from 57 different countries
for our July 2007 intake, and that the majority of these applicants therefore can’t visit the Warwick campus itself,
MBA events such as Connect 1.2.1 gives these candidates the opportunity of personal contact, information and feedback
at a location nearer to them.”
Valérie Gauthier, PhD, Associate Dean of the HEC MBA Program, says: “Our program demands a high level of interaction
and involvement from participants, so successful candidates must possess a capacity to forge connections and communicate
effectively. We want to identify these skills as early as possible in the admissions process, through the sort of
one-to-one interview sessions offered by QS TopMBA Connect 1.2.1.”
The Connect 1.2.1 fast-tracking format provides an unrivalled experience to MBA aspirants and suits high-performing
applicants seeking a more in-depth exchange with their preferred business schools. For these exclusive 200 invitees
there is no more waiting in a noisy line for a few minutes with the admissions officer of their choice. Arnold Longboy,
Director of Corporate Relations & Recruitment at Chicago GSB - Europe Campus, says: “Lately we’ve been hearing from
prospective students that business school brochures and websites are all starting to look and sound alike. A great way
to distinguish ourselves and see if we are the right fit for the student’s needs is by having face to face or one to
one conversations.”
Nunzio Quacquarelli, Managing Director of QS, confirms: “The schools coming to Connect 1.2.1 are directly seeking the
brightest British talent to streamline them into their schools. They are making a big investment to ensure that they
reach the public in this country so it is a great chance, for those interested in pursuing an MBA, to get quality time
with the people who are actively looking to recruit them.”
QS TopMBA Connect 1.2.1 will take place on Saturday 2 February in London. MBA Candidates who have completed their
preliminary research stage are encouraged to register for the event online.
